China National Electronics Import and Export Corp. (CEIEC), a well-known national foreign trader, is established, with the approval of the State Council in Apr. 1980. As a comprehensive enterprise, CEIEC is mainly engaged in import and export of technology, commodities of different categories and other services.
CEIEC now has 65 solely funded，proprietary subsidiaries overseas and at home, over 200 solely funded, domestically united or equity participation companies and joint ventures as well as 7 offices abroad. By the end of 2005 the total asset is increased up to RMB 5.8 billion and the total annual sales RMB 9.9 billion.
The main business scope includes: import and export of technology, commodities of different categories; government agreement trade, contract of international engineering projects, overseas labor co-operation, co-production, joint venture operation, processing with supplied materials, samples and blueprints and compensation trade, international tendering of electro-mechanical products procurement by either overseas loan or domestic funds and other international procurement tendering, setting up maintenance and post-sale service centers for overseas electronics manufacturers, sales agent, consignment sale of spare parts; software development and financial leasing, packaging and transportation, exhibition and advertising, market information and legal consultancy service in the field of foreign trade, and etc.
Since establishment, CEIEC has been adhering to the principle of serving the development of the national electronics industry and national economy; It persists in the reform and the combination of trade and industry, trade and technology development, import and export; It operates with foreign trade as its main business while diversifying business line for an all-around development. The trade volume from 1980 to 2005 totals up to USD34.3 billion, of which export reaches USD16.5 billion and import USD17.8 billion. Since 1992, CEIEC has been ranked among the top of the 500 largest Chinese foreign traders, with an annual export turnover of over USD 1 billion for consecutive years. At present, CEIEC has established trade relations with more than 140 countries and regions in the world and export over 600 varieties of commodities.According to the development of the domestic and international markets, CEIEC, in recent years, timely initiate the reform and system restructure, and, start the strategic transformation of the company. While proceeding with traditional foreign trade, the company set foot in overseas engineering contract and ship export business, and now has archived remarkable success.
CEIEC has, on many occasions, been awarded various medals and honours in years past. In 2005, the company successfully passed Quality Management System Certification and was awarded the Quality Management System Certificate of ISO9001(GB/T19001—2000 idt ISO9001:2000).
