Changzhi I&S (Group) Co., Ltd (hereafter abbreviated as Changgang) was founded in 1947, the first iron-making plant in the Taihang Revolutionary Region the CPC has established. After 55 years’ development, it has become a large-scale state-owned enterprise which integrates mining, coke-making, iron-making, steel-making, steel-rolling, cement-manufacturing, engineering construction and real estate developing, with 3 billion RMB Yuan fixed estate, annual production of iron & steel 1.4 million tons, rolled steel 1.6 million tons. The products include eight series, bar, wire, hot-rolled ribbed bar, seamless steel tube, slag cement, environment-protection wall-used products, bolts and PP-R tube.
Recent years, Changgang has oriented market demand and enforced strategic adjustment in the structure of industry, products, process, energy and economy. Meanwhile, it has improved measures on modernized products inspection, experiment and control and furthered development in new products. The result is that the types of products become various and the quality is steady and reliable. In 1999, it passed the accreditation of ISO9002 quality system from national metallurgical industry quality system.
Changgang persists in the concept of “Customers are first, honest and credit is elementary”, considers customers’ satisfaction as the everlasting pursuit. It was honored as “AAA” enterprise, “contract-abiding” enterprise. In 2000, it was awarded as “excellent enterprise” in our province.
The constructional steel from Changgang has high quality, steady ingredient and it is well-known in Shanxi Province and outside. The competitive product “Shangdang” hot-rolled ribbed concrete bar has passed the accreditation of national metallurgical product quality in the year of 1999, and it was awarded as “Golden Cup Prize” for actual quality of metallurgical products in the same year. In 2001, it honored as “Shanxi Best Brand Name Product” and honored as “Product exemption ” in 2002. It was used in national key projects, such as Chairmen Mao’s Memorial, Three Gorges Project, Wanjiazhai Projects, Taijiu and Dayun Express ways, Xiaolangdi Project, Qinshan Nuclear power station. It was well sold in China, even far to Southeast Asia. The HRB400 hot-rolled ribbed bar developed by Changgang with 11 specifications is the constructional steel which national construction administration mainly spread. The index and parameter of HRB400 hot-rolled ribbed bar are higher than the standard in GB1499-1998 after the inspection from the provincial and national quality inspection administration. Now it has been put into the buildings in the market of Beijing, Xi’an, Changsha in batch, moreover, the end-users are very satisfied.
At the commence of “Tenth five-year”, facing the fierce competition of the market, Changgang Group will aim to the strategy of constructing modernized enterprise and modernized enterprise group, further to adjust the structure of industry and products, start to enforce “Three-line” strategy, that is to strengthen the present production line and make the annual production of steel up to 1.4 million tons and the main technical economic index meet national advanced level and realize the maximum efficiency, which is the first line. The second line is to build a new continuous casting and continuous rolling production line with high additive value, to build 200 m2 sintering machine, 1080 m3 blast furnace, 100-ton converter, super-thin concast, 800,000-ton H section steel. The last line is to utilize scrap to produce slag fine powder cement and cement products, so to develop engineering construction and real estate---- “Changgang Construction”, make non-steel industry become the new economic increase point. At present, the production line of daily production of 1000 tons cement clinker and annual production 1,000,000 m2 environment protection products have been in operation, 600,000-ton compound stamp-charging coke oven can be fired at the end of this year, the million-ton slag cement production line is in construction and it will be finished constructing in next May. 200m2 sintering machine, 1080m3 blast furnace and 100-ton converter are designed. Till now, Changgang has built a close-cooped economic frame from the production of construction steel, cement, environment-protection products to building design, engineering construction and real estate development.
During the development in this half century, Changgang people made the noble virtue “develop through our own hard work and effort”. In the new stage and development trend, we have established the concept to enhance the development of enterprise rely on modernized science and technology and scientific achievement and modernized management. The melt of modernized thought and fine tradition will create a new Changgang. At the end of “Tenth-five year”, Changgang will become a composite I&S enterprise which can produce 3 million tons of iron and steel, characterize with high additive value and clean-production, developing in various fields.
